My favorite city. Chicago at night is beyond-words beautiful. My sister and her family live in a suburb, and seeing them and the city is a highlight of my year.
I have to agree with you on that. One of my fondest memories happened in Chicago, where I attended an amazing late dinner at a Jazz cafe with a friend. Of course, that also meant the frightening first-time experience of taxi-riding, where our driver did a "U"ie over the median when he realized he'd past the destination! But I digress... If I were more of a city-dweller, I would hold Chicago high on my list of home destinations. I love the small town feel we have here, but we simply cannot compete with the culture and diversity you find in the big city.
John, I had the opportunity to visit Chicago a couple of times for the annual book show. Thus far, it is my favorite city in the U.S. unless I discover something better. (Doubtful) Keep on bloggin!
After all these years, I found my niche in life, as a librarian. I'm blessed with a wonderful family, including a great sister and brother, and two terrific nieces and an amazing nephew. Admitting that I love to read is the understatement of my life. Good conversation with a valued friend or friends is something I will always treasure. A long walk on a lovely day is something I will never tire of. Thank goodness for laughter, smiles, home-cooked meals, train whistles, blooming flowers, Autumn, people who think of others, kind and uplifting words, books, the sounds of nature, artwork, and the feeling deep in your heart when you know what you did or said was the right and proper thing.
